First Baptist Church was started with the great commission in mind and this is still the focus of our church. We are a community of believers who desire to help our friends, family and neighbors to find and follow Jesus. We believe Jesus was sent and just as He was sent, He is sending us. We not only want to reach our local Dalewood Lake community, but we want to reach the I-20/I-59 corridor with Christ and help support missionaries around the world who are proclaiming Christ to the unreached nations.
We desire is to see lives changed by the transformative power of Jesus Christ.
We want to be a church where people can:
- Experience a real God for your real life. You don’t have to have it all figured out before you come to Him. God loves you right where you are, and we want our church to be a place where you truly experience His love.
- Connect in relationship with God and others. We believe life is meant to be lived in close community with our Creator and the ones He created. Our focus is on helping you connect with and grow closer to God so that you might connect with and grow closer to our community of believers.
- Respond to what God is doing in your life through sharing with and serving others. We want to be a church that shows our faith in the way we live our lives. That’s why we keep our eyes open for ways to serve others while sharing what God has done for us.
FBCL is a proud member of the Southern Baptist Convention, and connects locally with the Mississippi Baptist Convention and Lauderdale Baptist Association. We also support over 3500 foreign missionaries through our regular support of the Cooperative Program through the International Mission Board, and other like minded missions organizations.
